On May 15th, according to a report by CCTV News, Ford Motor Company announced on May 14th local time that it is recalling approximately 274,000 Expedition and Lincoln Navigator SUVs across the United States due to an issue that could potentially cause a loss of braking function while driving, thereby increasing the risk of collisions.
A document released by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) indicates that the recalled vehicles may have a potential installation defect where the front brake lines could come into “contact” with the engine air filter outlet pipe. This contact could lead to brake fluid leakage and a subsequent loss of braking function.
As reported by IT Home, the recall covers 223,315 Expedition SUVs and 50,474 Lincoln Navigator SUVs from the 2022 to 2024 model years. The recall report suggests that Ford estimates only 1% of these vehicles are likely to have this defect.
Ford is advising owners of the affected vehicles to contact their local dealerships for inspection and necessary repairs to ensure safety.
