On the 20th, forest fires in many parts of Canada continued to spread. The latest data shows that there are still more than 1,000 forest fires burning across Canada, 384 of which are located in British Columbia, of which 159 are out of control. Another 14 were “notable” and could pose a potential threat to public safety. The fire department said on the 20th that the situation of the forest fire raging around Okanagan Lake in British Columbia has improved after several days of spreading. No new homes have been destroyed in the past 24 hours, meaning “talk about restoration work” can begin.

British Columbia declared a state of emergency due to the spreading forest fires on the 18th, and an emergency order was issued on the 19th to limit non-essential travel to the southern interior of British Columbia. At present, 35,000 people in the local area have received evacuation orders, and another 30,000 people have received warnings to prepare for evacuation. Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau stated through social media on the 20th that at the request of British Columbia, the federal government is preparing to send troops to participate in the fire fighting.
