German Chancellor Olaf Scholz opened the auto show at the IAA Mobility trade fair in Munich and stressed the importance of transport transformation.
Munich (dpa/d.de) – German Chancellor Olaf Scholz praised the innovative capabilities of German carmakers and suppliers at the opening of the International Automobile and Smart Mobility Expo (IAA) on Tuesday. Scholz said: “There is no doubt about the competitiveness of the German automobile industry.” Regarding the planned transportation transformation, he emphasized that his goal is still to have 15 million electric vehicles on German roads by 2030 and to build ” One million charging points.”
“Transforming transport is a huge undertaking and also a team task. Today I am here as a committed member of a team that is committed to promoting climate neutrality in transport in Germany and from Germany globally. Let’s make it happen together.”
“For the federal government, this means: We are now creating the conditions for Germany to become climate neutral by 2045 and to remain a strong industrialized nation,” the German Chancellor said at the opening of the auto show.
After the opening ceremony, Scholz conducted a tour of about two hours, focusing on future projects of German automakers and suppliers. The IAA is organized annually by the German Automotive Industry Association (VDA). With this event, the VDA hopes to provide a platform for “sustainable smart networked mobility solutions” and more. The networking of different modes of transportation is an important topic at the auto show.
