According to a report by Mexican media Cluster Industrial on October 28, Stellantis has restarted localized production of the Ram 1500 Light Duty pickup truck at its Saltillo Derramadero Assembly Plant in Mexico. To support the production restart, the Saltillo Heavy Duty Plant underwent expansion to install new high-tech manufacturing equipment, catering to demand in Mexico, Canada, and other global markets.

The sprawling facility spans 166,000 square meters and includes a body shop equipped with 370 robots, a paint shop featuring cargo-box painting systems (with 92 robots and 36 additional units), and three main assembly lines. This plant also marks Stellantis’ first North American site to conduct seat subassembly for the Ram 1500, further enhancing its competitiveness. As part of its environmental commitment, the company has added a new wastewater treatment plant.

Currently operating on a single shift, the Saltillo plant plans to introduce a second shift to achieve a production rate of 40 vehicles per hour. Once implemented, annual capacity will increase to up to 163,000 units, creating over 2,000 direct new jobs.
