Wildfires rage in Tenerife, Spain

The Spanish resort of Tenerife is experiencing its worst wildfire in nearly 40 years. As of the 17th local time, the wildfire has affected about 7,600 people, most of whom have been evacuated.

A wildfire broke out in a national park on Tenerife, the largest island in Spain’s Canary Islands, on the evening of the 15th, and the fire spread rapidly. At present, the burned area has reached 2,600 hectares, with a circumference of 31 kilometers.

The local government stated that this is the most complex fire in the Canary Islands in the past 40 years, and the evacuation of some villages on the island will continue in the next few hours.

The Canary Islands have suffered a heat wave in recent days, and many areas have become dry, which has increased the risk of wildfires.
