Typhoon Rann, No. 7 this year since its formation on Aug 8th this year, has stayed in the Northwest Pacific Ocean for about 7 days, and made its first landfall—and the first landfall area was in Japan.
Local time August 15, 2023, in Ayabe, Japan, the strong typhoon “Rann” landed, and the damage caused by the mudslide caused by the heavy rain. As of local time local time on the 15th 6:00pm, “Rann” has injured at least 50 people in many places in Japan. The Japan Meteorological Agency issued the highest level of rainstorm warning to Tottori Prefecture, calling on people in the disaster area to protect their own safety.

In addition, nearly 900 flights were canceled in Japan, some roads were closed and dozens of trains were suspended. Japanese authorities have issued flood and landslide warnings.
Japan’s Fire and Disaster Management Agency requested emergency evacuation for residents in 11 prefectures. Authorities said they had set up evacuation centers in safe buildings and high ground for residents to take refuge.
