On September 19, people participated in an earthquake drill in Mexico City, the capital of Mexico. ​

On the same day, Mexico held its second nationwide earthquake drill in 2023 to improve its ability to respond to disasters. Mexico is located in the Pacific Rim Seismic Belt, where multiple tectonic plates meet, so earthquakes occur frequently.
