Xinhua News Agency, Mexico City, September 25 (Reporter Wu Hao) News from Guatemala City: Guatemala’s National Disaster Mitigation Department announced on social media on the 25th that heavy rains in the country’s capital, Guatemala City, triggered floods that day, resulting in 3 deaths and 15 missing people.

 

The announcement stated that in the early morning of that day, heavy rains caused the water level of the Naranjo River to rise in Guatemala City, causing flooding, resulting in deaths and missing persons, and damage to six other houses. The crisis-ridden government has dispatched an emergency rescue team to the scene.

 

The announcement stated that since the beginning of this year’s rainy season, 32 people have died in related disasters across Guatemala, and more than 2.11 million people have been affected.

 

The rainy season in Guatemala begins around May each year, and concentrated rainfall causes frequent disasters such as floods and mudslides.
